The city of Charlotte says it is offering a 75 percent reimbursement of tuition for contractors who get Building Performance Institute training at Central Piedmont Community College.
Participants must complete the combined building analyst and envelope professional class and BPI certification exam. Standard tuition for the combined class is $2,295, but training will be offered at a reduced rate of $1,850. With the 75 percent reimbursement, contractors will pay $462.50.
BPI develops national energy-efficiency retrofitting standards.
The city has required contractors to have BPI certification if they want to work on city contracts.
