Charlotte is one of 99 cities whose housing markets are improving.

That’s according to a report released today by the National Association of Home Builders and First American Title Insurance Co.

Other North Carolina cities on the list: Burlington, Goldsboro and Rocky Mount. In South Carolina, Charleston and Spartanburg made the list, too.

The monthly index reveals what metro areas have shown an uptick in housing permits, employment, and housing prices for at least six consecutive months. About a quarter of all metro areas are showing improvements to their housing markets.

“With nearly 100 metros showing consistent improvement in local economic and housing conditions, more consumers are feeling confident enough to take advantage of the buyer’s market this spring,” Kurt Pfotenhauer, vice chairman of First American Title Insurance Co., said in a statement.

The index added 31 cities this month. But because about 30 other cities fell off the list, the index was mostly flat.
