Charlotte-area home sales rose 9.2 percent in January from the same month last year, while the average sales price dropped 0.1 percent, the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association said today.
There were 1,541 sales in January, up from 1,411 in January 2011. January’s average sales price was $187,785, down from $187,971.
Jennifer Frontera, the association’s 2012 president, said there are indications that the housing market is stabilizing, including more closings, sale prices flat compared with last year, an uptick in pending sales and sales prices at 90 percent of original listing prices.
The association said the best measure of trends, the median sales price, was $146,550 in January, up 2.4 percent from January 2011, when it was $143,127.
