Who says city council meetings are boring?
Larry Shaheen Jr. appears to be stimulated by them.
On Monday, the Charlotte City Council held a public hearing for the rezoning of more than five acres at 4749 West Blvd., 5000 Sirus Lane and 4916 Sirus Lane.
Elam Group of Charlotte wants the property’s zoning changed from light industrial (I-1) to heavy industrial (I-2).
Because it is a standard rezoning, Elam does not have to specify what the site’s future use will be. But Elam’s representative, Robert Young, a planning and zoning consultant in Charlotte, told council members that the site’s future use will be consistent with nearby development.
The lack of answers was a cause for concern for Councilman David Howard, who asked to meet with Young to discuss the plan further.
New Councilwoman LaWana Mayfield, who was sworn in this month, said she, too, would be interested in receiving the information.
“I can double team both of you,” Young said, which brought out the sordid side of Shaheen, a political consultant in Charlotte, who commented on it on Twitter.
Let’s just say he admitted his mind was in the gutter.
