The Better Business Bureau of Southern Piedmont, which represents Charlotte, is warning property owners about Home Appliance Repair.
The Gastonia-based appliance repair business has racked up 15 complaints with the BBB, 12 of which have been filed in just the past few months. Of the 15, 13 are unanswered by the company and two complaints are still being processed.
HAR has a failing grade with the BBB. Company owner Michael Henderson Jr. has done business under five different names and used four telephone numbers and seven addresses in Gaston, Lincoln, Mecklenburg and Buncombe counties, according to the BBB.
The company’s complaints stem from customers in Mecklenburg, Union, Lincoln, Iredell, Gaston, Cabarrus and York counties.
Terri Nail, who manages Chapman Pointe Apartments in Dallas, is one of the company’s victims, according to the BBB. Nail allegedly contacted the company about a broken washing machine and four dryers. The bill was $926 and came with a six-month warranty. But when one of the dryers broke again in less than a week, Henderson never returned to fix the appliance and would not give her a refund, according to the BBB.
Henderson’s father, Michael Henderson Sr., has also been in the appliance-repair business, but the BBB says the younger Henderson is the primary person involved with the appliance-repair contracts.
The company could not be reached for comment.
