“Weiner” was on lots of people’s minds in Mooresville last week.
No, we’re not talking about that other dog named Anthony from New York.
Instead, we’re referring to the annual Wiener Race, a competition for dachshunds that was held Saturday.
Organizers last week said about 180 pooches were expected to compete. There are four divisions: puppies, juniors, adults and seniors.
Interestingly, in 2009, the world’s oldest dog was a 21-year-old dachshund mix named Chanel. (That’s 120 in human years, our top dog sources tell us.)
Chanel, by the way, did not race Saturday.
She’s gone to that doghouse in the sky, but she’s in a better place.
