Charlotte-Mecklenburg Stormwater Services is considering buyouts of properties damaged by recent flooding.

During flooding Aug. 5, 163 buildings were damaged, a CMSS release says. Most are northwest and west of uptown in the Irwin Creek and Stewart Creek watersheds.

Buyouts are still in the idea stage, but the release said officials were figuring out which property owners might be interested in selling and which might qualify for a buyout.

Property owners who think they might qualify can contact CMSS, which is at 700 N. Tryon St., at (704) 432-7246 or [email protected].
