Charlotte home sales, prices drop

It was a bad June for the Charlotte housing market compared with the same month a year ago.

Sales fell to 8.1 percent, to 2,332 from 2,537 in June 2010, the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association said today.

The average sales price fell 1 percent to $216,399 from $218,638, while the median sales price dropped 3.7 percent to $156,750 from $162,699

The average listing price rose 3.9 percent to $259,937 from $250,249.

Residential pending contracts rose 18 percent to 2,358 from 1,999.

There were 4,067 new residential listings last month.

The average number of days a property was on the market from the time it was listed until it closed was 152, two days longer than in May.
