Goodrich Corp. today said the ORS-1 satellite it worked on for the Air Force has been launched.
Charlotte-based Goodrich was the prime contractor for the satellite, which was launched Wednesday at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility and Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport on Wallops Island, Va.
ORS-1 is the first satellite in the Operationally Responsive Space program. The satellite will support combatant command operations, Goodrich said.
Goodrich is the lead systems integrator for the satellite. The company services the aerospace and defense industries.
