Compass Group USA plans to add 200 jobs at its Charlotte headquarters over the next four years in an $8.5 million investment, the company announced today.
CGUSA, which provides catering to corporations and is part of publicly traded London-based Compass Group PLC, already employs more than 1,000 in its Charlotte headquarters. The company plans to move some jobs from regional headquarters to Charlotte.
CGUSA is in Coliseum Center off Tyvola and Yorkmont roads.
The new jobs will have an average salary of $52,500, not including benefits, according to a press release from Gov. Beverly Perdue’s office. In Mecklenburg County, the average wage is $51,584.
In exchange for the expansion, the state has awarded the company a job development investment grant. Under the terms of the deal, the company is eligible to receive a grant equal to 55 percent of the state personal income withholding taxes derived from the creation of new jobs for each of the eight years in which the company meets annual performance targets. If CGUSA meets those targets, it could get $1.7 million in maximum benefits.
The parent company employs more than 428,000 in more than 50 countries.
