Charlotte’s deputy city manager lays out 5-part economic development strategy

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission heard today from Ron Kimble, Charlotte’s deputy city manager, about the city’s strategy for increasing economic development while focusing on sustainable development, tax base expansion and quality job growth.
The city breaks down its economic development plan into five strategies: business retention, expansion and attraction; transit and business district revitalization; small-business growth and development; hospitality and tourism; and permitting, plan review and inspections expediting.
The next full planning commission meeting will be noon July 11.
