Federal government bans Charlotte bus company Sky Express from operating following fatal accident

The federal government has banned Charlotte-based bus company Sky Express from roadways after one of its buses was involved in a deadly accident Tuesday.

The bus overturned on Interstate 95 north of Richmond, Va., after leaving Charlotte and making a stop in Raleigh.

Four passengers were killed and 54 injured, according to news reports. Officials said driver fatigue caused the accident. The driver, Kin Yiu Cheung, 37, was arrested and charged with reckless driving.

Federal transportation officials said Sky Express has had multiple safety violations.
