This month, the NASCAR Hall of Fame turns 1, but the celebration is dampened by first-year attendance that failed to meet projections and a deficit topping $1 million.
According to voters on The Mecklenburg Times’ online poll, the No. 1 reason — 46 percent of voters went with it — that the venue has not lived up to expectations is ticket prices are too high.
Other contributing factors:
• the recession (26 percent);
• not enough interest in NASCAR (26 percent);
• a failure of marketing (18 percent); and
• too few people aware of the venue (6 percent)
The Meck Times has posted a new poll question: Should teeth-whitening kiosks be banned from NC malls if the operators aren’t licensed dentists?
