Groninger USA broke ground today on a new U.S. headquarters and manufacturing facility in southwest Charlotte’s South Point Business Park, the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce said.
Groninger USA is a subsidiary of Groninger & Co. GmbH of Germany, a manufacturer of filling and finishing machinery for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.
Groninger USA relocated to Charlotte from New Jersey in 2007, creating four jobs at the time and leasing 4,800 square feet of space for U.S. sales and technical support. Since then, the company’s Charlotte footprint has expanded to include 21 employees, 12,000 square feet of leased space and machining and assembly operations.
Today’s groundbreaking launches the construction of a 28,000-square-foot freestanding facility that will accommodate Groninger USA’s expansion on land purchased in 2009 at 14045 South Lakes Drive.
The new facility will also be home to expanded engineering, production and assembly areas as well as an in-house training center and showroom.
Groninger USA expects to hire more workers over the next two years as U.S. operations continue to grow, a release from the chamber says.
