Charlotte-area home sales rose by only 0.2 percent in March from the same month a year ago, while the average sales price fell 1.6 percent, the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association said today.
But March’s 1,903 closing were up 43 percent from 1,329 in February.
The average sales price was $194,465, down from $197,564 in March 2010 but up 8 percent from $180,036 in February.
The average listing price in March was $222,224, down 0.5 percent from $223,319 in March 2010 but up 7.6 percent from $206,576 in February.
There were 2,202 pending residential contracts in March, down 11.8 percent from 2,498 in March 2010 but 31.7 percent higher than February’s 1,672.
There were 5,147 new residential listings in March.
For the month, the average number of days a property was on the market, from the time it was listed until it closed, was 159, two days longer than in February.
