City releases streetcar environmental-impact study

An environmental-impact analysis of a proposed 10-mile Charlotte streetcar line is available for the public to review, the city said today.

The line, which would connect the city’s east and west sides, would have 37 stops and run from the Rosa Parks Place Community Transit Center on Beatties Ford Road through Center City on Trade Street to the Eastland Community Transit Center on Central Avenue.

A public hearing on the environmental report will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. April 28 in Room 267 at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.

Members of the public interested in speaking at the hearing have until 3 p.m. the day of the hearing to sign up by calling (704) 336-2291.
