Goodrich Corp. today said it has signed an agreement with SSCP Aero Holdings to acquire Italy-based Microtecnica for$462 million.
Microtecnica provides flight-control systems for helicopters and other aircraft. Charlotte-based Goodrich said the deal, which still needs government approvals, would strengthen its position in the helicopter market.
The purchase is expected to take place in the second half of this year.
Goodrich said 2011 sales for Microtecnica are expected to be approximately $220 million.
Aero Holdings is backed by the European private equity firm Stirling Square Capital Partners, Goodrich said.
Microtecnica employs about 700 people at facilities in Italy and Bristol, England.
