FairPoint logs bigger loss in 2010

In releasing its first earnings report since it emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January, FairPoint Communications today said it had a bigger net loss in 2010 than it did the year.

The Charlotte-based provider of communications services reported a net loss of $281.5 million, or $3.15 a share, on revenue of $1.07 billion, compared with a net loss of $241.3 million, or $2.70 a share, on revenue of $1.11 billion in 2009.

In the fourth quarter, the company had a net loss of $74.9 million, down from a net loss of $115.7 million for the same quarter in 2009.
