Mecklenburg County today tried to clear up the confusion surrounding second revaluation notices sent to thousands of homeowners.
The county said about 5,000 homeowners have received two notices, which stem from adjustments the assessor’s office made to their homes’ values after the first notices were mailed Feb. 7. The adjustments were the result of various factors, primarily construction completed after the initial notices were mailed.
Second notices, which were sent Monday, can be appealed, with a deadline of April 19.
The deadline to appeal initial notices was March 14.
