Duke to give away 10M compact fluorescent light bulbs
Duke Energy Corp. today said it plans to distribute 10 million free compact fluorescent light bulbs to eligible customers this year.
The Charlotte-based company said it distributed more than 10 million free CFLs to about 1 million residential customers last year, saving enough energy to power nearly 45,000 homes.
Duke declined to break down the cost of the bulbs.
CFLs use 75 percent less energy and last up to 10 times longer than standard light bulbs, the company said in a press release.
To request the free bulbs, go to duke-energy.com/freecflsnow or call (800) 943-7585 and choose option one.
