Mecklenburg County homeowners should start receiving 2011 property revaluation notices in their mailboxes this week.
On average, home values are expected to increase 6 to 8 percent over the last revaluation in 2003. State law requires revaluations of properties in a county at least every eight years.
Property tax bills were expected to rise for some in the county over the last reappraisal, even though many home values plummeted thanks to the recession and foreclosure crisis.
