The 2012 Democratic National Convention to be held in Charlotte the week of Sept. 3 will benefit the Lake Norman area, Visit Lake Norman said.
In a press release, the visitors bureau said the area has 19 hotels “that will be directly impacted by the DNC as part of the bid package, which was through the coordination of Visit Lake Norman and in cooperation with the local organizing committee.”
In the towns of Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville, 1,599 hotel rooms have been offered to house the delegates and media expected to attend the event.
Leading up to the convention, the media will film areas around Lake Norman as part of their coverage of the event, the press release says.
