The unemployment rate fell in the Charlotte area and Mecklenburg County from November to December, the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina said today. But the rates for Charlotte and the county still remained above the state’s December rate of 9.7 percent.
In the Charlotte area, the rate fell from 11 percent to 10.7 percent. In the county, it fell to 10 percent from 10.4 percent.
Rates decreased in all 14 of the state’s metropolitan statistical areas and in 66 of the state’s 100 counties. The rate increased in 27 counties and remained the same in seven.
