The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles today said it has posted the application, standards and procedures to be used by businesses seeking certification to be a provider of ignition interlock devices.
The devices are connected to a vehicle’s ignition system and measure alcohol levels on a person’s breath, preventing the vehicle from being started if the levels are too high.
There is no deadline for the applications to be submitted to the DMV.

To submit an ignition interlock device for certification, businesses must obtain laboratory testing.
