Duke completes solar farm
Charlotte-based Duke Energy Corp. and Beltsville, Md.-based SunEdison said today they have completed a 17.2-megawatt solar farm in Davidson County.
The farm is expected to power more than 2,600 homes a year, the companies said, adding that it is the second-largest active solar project on the East Coast.
It covers more than 200 acres and consists of more than 63,000 solar panels. It is expected to generate about 28 million kilowatt-hours a year.
