Minneapolis-based Target Corp. plans to open a store in Gastonia this year.
Company spokeswoman Amy Reilly said the 135,000-square-foot store is scheduled to open in early October at Interstate 85 and Cox Road. It will have 100 to 250 employees, Reilly said.
The new store will also feature an expanded grocery section, including a fresh-food assortment, produce and fresh packaged meats and baked goods.
Target is also scheduled to open a new store in October in Morrisville about 130 miles northwest of Charlotte.
The Gastonia store is one of 21 that Target plans to open this year.
