Penguin to reopen Jan. 15

The Penguin, a Charlotte restaurant that has become a tourist destination, will reopen Jan. 15 after being shuttered for renovations, the eatery announced Friday.
The restaurant, which first opened in 1954, has been closed since October.
Known for its fried pickles, the Penguin was featured on The Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” show in 2007.
