Charlotte-based manufacturer SPX Corp. said it has been awarded a more than $15 million contract to design, manufacture and install processing equipment in a new dairy products factory for Turkish company Panagro.
Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2011 in Konya in central Turkey.
Panagro, whose dairy brands include Seker Sut, is part of sugar producer Konya Seker and food company AB Holdings.
SPX said it is designing the dairy with advanced technologies to supply the growing demand for dairy products in Turkey and neighboring countries. The new dairy is expected to produce yogurt; ayran, or drinking yogurt; double cream cheese; cheddar; cheese; butter; milk produced with ultra-high temperature processes; demineralized whey; skimmed milk powders; and fruit juices.
SPX has 15,000 employees in more than 35 countries.
