Report: Charlotte-area unemployment could rise before year’s end

Charlotte-area unemployment could rise before the end of the year, the Charlotte Regional Partnership said Wednesday.

In a report, the CRP said the unemployment rate for the Charlotte region continued its downward trend in October, falling to 10.6 percent from 11 percent in September, with all 16 counties posting a decline.

But with the U.S. unemployment rate up in November and county unemployment statistics, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, typically lagging the national figure by about a month, Charlotte-area unemployment might jump before the end of 2010, the CRP said.
