BB&T declares 15-cent dividend

BB&T Corp. said it will pay a 15 cent dividend per common share in the first quarter of 2011.

The Winston-Salem-based company said the dividend will be paid Feb. 1 to shareholders of record as of Jan. 7.

At that rate, the annual dividend is equal to 60 cents per common share, the company said.

The company has approximately 694 million shares outstanding.

As of Sept. 30, BB&T had more than $157.2 billion in assets and market capitalization of $16.7 billion.

It operates approximately 1,800 financial centers in 12 states and Washington, D.C.
