Charlotte-based TSC Group said Thursday it has acquired Barjan, a Rock Island, Ill.-based distributor of products to travel centers, truck stops and convenience stores.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition includes Barjan’s purchase of West Caldwell, N.J.-based Eastern Tool Warehouse, a national distributor of specialty tools for the automotive and heavy-duty truck industries.
“Based on our interactions, we are confident the strengths of our combined teams will allow us to become the leading distributor and merchandiser in the industry,” TSC chief executive John Wiesehan said in a statement.
TSC will be the parent company, while Barjan and ETW will retain their previous brand names but be identified as “a TSC company.”
TSC’s business includes selling, marketing and distributing products to America’s top retailers.
Barjan distributes more than 8,000 individual products, including automotive and truck tools, automotive accessories, chemicals and additives, consumer electronics, tools, books, videos and music. Barjan also owns brands used by professional truck drivers, including Astatic, Wilson and Francis.
ETW has more than 2,700 customers.
