Charlotte-based Goodrich Corp. said Tuesday it has shipped it first thrust reversers for the Airbus A350 XWB twin jet.
The reversers, the largest ever designed and built by Goodrich, will be installed on a Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine to be used in an engine ground test program, which is scheduled to begin later this year.
Goodrich shipped the reversers Nov. 5 from its Chula Vista, Calif., facility. They will be sent first to the Rolls-Royce facility in Derby, England, for initial testing before being shipped to a Rolls-Royce ground testing site at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
The contract is valued at $6 billion over 20 years.
Last week, Goodrich said it has been chosen to provide the main landing gear for the Airbus A350-1000 XWB, a contract expected to generate more than $2 billion in revenue.
