Duke Energy Corp. today said it has completed its fourth — and largest — wind farm in Wyoming.
The Charlotte-based utility company said its Top of the World Windpower Project near Casper, Wyo., is in operation and producing electricity.
The 200-megawatt wind farm supplies wind energy to PacifiCorp under the terms of a 20-year power purchase agreement. Duke said the project’s 110 wind turbines are capable of producing enough electricity to power approximately 60,000 homes.
With Top of the World in operation, Duke said it has 935 megawatts of wind power in commercial operation. That figure will rise to nearly 1,000 megawatts later this year when the 51-megawatt Kit Carson Windpower Project in eastern Colorado is put into operation, Duke said.
