Business owners share tips to help you win the race in the new year
By Austin Light CHARLOTTE — Today is the first day of 2010. It’s a new year and a fresh start. To kick things off right, The Mecklenburg Times consulted several successful professionals, many of whom contributed to our monthly Business 101 advice panel in 2009, to learn some of the best ways a business can start the year right. What are three things I can do to start the year strong? Corey Creed: Reach out to existing customers. Listen to existing customers. Avoid online distractions. Charlie Elberson: Get more involved with clients’ customers and discover new, relevant insights. Keep rested to stay fresh. Make time to read. Ryan Dienst: Create a “stop doing list” — it’s at least as important as a “can do” list, if not more so. Start with a quarterly plan: Set goals for each 90-day period to help you achieve annual results. Fire a customer: Force yourself to say no to at least one thing/person/company. It will help you find what is most critical and free up some time and energy.
