Staffing agencies see slow but steady growth

CHARLOTTE — While several local staffing companies say they are seeing an uptick in business in recent months, some economists caution that likely will be slow as unemployment remains in the double digits.

Carolina Legal Staffing has taken on about 15 new clients in the last few months, Recruiting Director Barbara Fleming said.

The company’s offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, Columbia and Greenville fill temporary and permanent positions at law firms and corporations, including attorneys, legal secretaries, administrators and human resources staff. Most of clients’ new positions are in corporations as opposed to law firms, Fleming said.

Todd Warner, vice-president of business development at StrataForce, said the staffing agency has added about 17 new clients since August in Charlotte and nearly 50 company-wide.
