Property tainted with asbestos, chemicals–Arlington developer claims company sold tainted land

By Amy Burroughs CHARLOTTE _ Metropolitan Group, Inc., developer of the pink-glass Arlington condos in South End, has filed a lawsuit against a Milwaukee-based manufacturer alleging that it knowingly sold property tainted with asbestos, hazardous chemicals and other toxic substances. According to Metropolitan’s complaint, the company had to pay $428,000 to clean up hazardous materials that leaked into the Catawba River after it bought the property from Meridian Industries, Inc.
