About 50 Most Influential Women

What is the 50 Most Influential Women Awards?
The 50 Most Influential Women event was created to spotlight and recognize the important role women play in the greater Charlotte region, in the economy, and in society. The honorees represent the most influential women in business, government, law, education, and not-for-profit fields.  They are selected by a panel of independent business leaders based on professional accomplishment and community involvement within the Charlotte area. The previous 2 years 50 Most Influential Women honorees will not be considered as nominees.  Previous winners are eligible to be honored again in the third year after they received their award.

How do you select the Woman of the Year?
The overall ‘Woman of the Year’ award will be selected out of the honorees and presented to the honoree with the highest overall score from the judges. This award is kept confidential until the night of the event. Any of our 50 honorees could be the Woman of the Year!

Where and when will the event be held?
The event will be returning in 2023 and registration will open August 1.

Will the honorees speak during the awards presentation?
No. The honorees will only walk across the stage to receive their award. However, at the end of the awards program, the Woman of the Year will be given the opportunity to say a few words after she receives her award.

How can I be considered as a 50 Most Influential Honoree?
We hold open nominations to anyone who would like to nominate an influential woman. These nominations are not limited, and you may even nominate yourself. The nomination page will be available at the conclusion of the event through a ‘Nomination’ on our website. We will also have nomination cards available at the event.

How is the nomination information used?
We strive to keep all nominator information confidential; however, we will use the contact information provided during the nomination process to contact the nominee for more information. All documentation received by the end of the period will be sent to the judges, including the nomination form. Our judges understand the level of confidentiality and uphold that tradition. *Please note that some of the information provided during nomination may be used to write the special section and script portion if the nominee is selected as an honoree.

How does the nomination process work?
We keep a record of all nominations and we contact each nominee around January and February before the event. We will send a nominee questionnaire with detailed questions to the nominee to get as much information about them as possible. Additional supporting documentation may include: resume, recommendation letters, news stories, previous awards and anything else you believe will assist the judges during scoring. At the end of the nomination process, all documentation will be submitted to the judges for review. *PLEASE NOTE: Unless a nominee directly requests to be taken out of the running, the nomination will be sent to the judges (even if we do not receive a completed questionnaire).

What are the judges looking for?
The more information you provide, the easier it is to score you! The judges will review all documentation we receive according to the following categories:

  1. Professional Career
  2. Community Involvement
  3. Achievements in Profession
  4. Evidence of Leadership
  5. What makes this nominee stand out from the pack?

I did not find the answer to my question above. How do I get more information?
